Shilo @ Happy Cats
Shilo is a pretty and plump silver tabby with big green eyes. We worried we couldn’t keep her when she first came to Happy Cats. She screamed in what we fondly came to call her outside voice. She hit the bars. She struck. She was terrified.

The volunteers think Shilo lived in a basement, with very mixed message from her people. Slowly, her outside voice became a question, and then an inside voice. Then she accidentally moved herself into the exam room…and accidentally let some of us pet her. Then we got the purr.

It took her a long time to trust us, and even then she was picky about who could come visit and who would get The Purr instead of The Voice! This might have had something to do with why she was with us for so long.

Until Day 376, when Donna came and fell in love with Shilo’s sassy attitude. She said she’d had cats like her before, so she was ready to crown her Queen of the Universe, just like Shilo wanted.

Donna says at first Shilo acted like she didn’t deserve to be in the whole house. She would slink around like she was doing something bad just to reach her cat food. But Donna has been telling her, “This is your house, Shilo. You go wherever you want.”

Now, Shilo enjoys playing with Donna as well as sitting in her very own sunny window for the first time in over a year (and maybe much longer than that)! She’s even lost more weight.

There really is someone out there for every kitty. We’re so grateful that Shilo found her Donna…and vice versa!
